Why else would gossip treacle like Myley Cyrus' Pink Beret Fashion Don't be a prominent news item on Yahoo? Why are there "Enquiring" minds who want to know that now spell inquiring with an "E"?
Why? Because America is filled with droves of dumbasses - flocks of them who read this fallow silliness that now passes for news. Can we blame the media when they're just feeding the great unwashed masses what those dirt minded masses want? Well, yes, the media should know better, but dish sells and the media has sold out.
America you get the news you deserve, you get what you asked for and didn't yo' momma tell ya "be careful what you ask for"?

ON THE UPSIDE: You can still watch Walter Cronkite on YouTube. Here is a video moment that forever changed the face of news in America:

My opinion, for what it's worth, is that there are very few Hollywood or music industry people to view as role models for anything except shallowness and superficiality. I don't know why America is so enamored with them.
I remember seeing this broadcast of Walter's. He was like a family friend, watching him on TV all the time. I miss those times.
I agree that Hollywood leads the way in media spam, but there are a few "old school" celebrities who "pay it forward" and one is Sir Paul McCartney, who gives generously but with thought - check this out about PETA and his donations to cancer research.
I still lay the blame for the junk food we call news at the feet of the media who feeds us this dribble and the public who demands to be fed more junk!
This rant is right on! There is so much emphasis on who's wearing what on the red carpet that real news gets shoved under the rug. Good for you, Ms. Brat to bring this up!
For all the good it will do - the great unwashed outnumber me, lol.
