A $5000 Cell Phone?? Oh, GIVE ME A BREAK!

You heard me right, the famous house of Christian Dior has "designed" a cell phone for people with more money than sense.

Not content to stay within the bounds of traditional fashion accessories, this iconic fashion house has moved it's artistic talent into the tech world to bring you - woo-Fraking-hoo - a phone available in red, pink and white!!

Another "breakthrough" design element - a clip on "mini phone" (called "My Dior") which is about the size of a USB key and connects to the main phone via Bluetooth. Uh. . . . isn't that just a fancy name for a Bluetooth headset - except it doesn't fit your ear????

Evidently this brilliant idea was in response to other haute couture houses (Dolce & Gabbana, Prada and Giorgio Armani) who previously introduced "designer" phones with some success. Oh gosh, where have I been? I missed a new fashion trend, I am a fashion "don't" with my "po-white-trash" cell phone! Oh, whoe is me.

Interestingly, the phone is targeted at China and Russia. So, my fellow Americans, you have lost your status, you be yesterday's news, you got no cash for the flash!

You know what really bugs me about all this? It is just another sign that the middle class is dead. Most of us are now struggling to put gasoline in our cars to get to work and finding it harder to afford groceries and a decent place to live. Do we need another product that reminds us we can't afford even the basics of a decent life let alone needless luxuries?

The world reverts to the haves and have nots, the rich get richer while the poor get poorer.

ON THE UPSIDE: I have a bunch of pretty Swarovski crystals left over from my jewelry making days and some super glue. . . . . .
